  • 2012 Seminar at Merchant Taylors' raises £1000 for GOSH

    January 24th saw the fifth Deacon Search annual market report seminar, which was held this year at Merchant Taylors' in Threadneedle Street. The event was very well attended by around 100 partners and HR executives, from law firms across the City and West End. Everyone enjoyed a breakfast and a catch-up followed by an informative presentation given by Paul Deacon into the key trends experienced in the London legal market during 2011.   • Paul raises over £5000 in charity bike ride

    December 2011
    Paul has recently completed a grueling 400k bike ride in Israel. Cycling from Jerusalem to Eilat, he averaged around 50miles per day, on the road for 8-10 hours a day for five days. He managed to raise over £5000 for Norwood, a charity which supports thousands of people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.   • Deacon Legal continues to expand with two further hires

    We would like to welcome two new recruits to Deacon Legal. Danielle Kay joins Deacon Search after making the transition from law to headhunting. She trained as a solicitor at Herbert Smith and then subsequently practiced at a West End Firm. Hugo Tang joins Deacon Associates as a consultant from Eximius Law. He focuses on both search and contingency for a wide range of law firms in the UK and Asia markets.

  • Deacon Search hires Managing Partner from City law firm.

    We are particularly pleased to welcome into our ranks Philip Burroughs who formerly headed up the London office of McGrigors. Philip joins Kennan Michel (ex managing partner of Barlow Lyde & Gilbert) as a part-time consultant with the business, both able to offer invaluable insights into the partner and team recruitment market. Our partner search team is now one of the largest and most experienced in the City.

  • 2011 London Legal Walk.

    Deacon Legal were proud to take part in the 2011 London Legal Walk in May 2011. We raised funds for the London Legal Support Trust which funds Law Centres and pro bono agencies in and around London. We know that these agencies do a fantastic job in preventing homelessness, resolving debt problems, gaining care for the elderly and disabled and fighting exploitation. We also know how short they are of the funds to continue that work.

  • Paul Deacon speaks at Ethics Seminar.

    Paul spoke at a business ethics seminar (run by the charity Jabe) on the ethics of hiring, firing and recruiting. He shared the platform with top employment partner Elaine Aarons of Withers. The event was very well attended and the discussing was lively (and at times heated!). Last year Paul spoke on whether headhunting itself was a legitimate and ethical business practice.

  • New offices for Deacon Legal.

    October 2010
    Deacon Legal (umbrella brand for Deacon Search, Deacon Associates and Deacon In-House) moved to bigger and brighter offices in October 2010, having outgrown our former offices with a team currently numbering 14. We have renovated wonderful spacious offices in Godliman Street, in the shadows of St Pauls cathedral. The new location offers plenty of meeting space to welcome our clients and candidates alike.

  • Deacon Search hires consultant from leading competitor.

    Deacon Search is delighted to welcome Mike Walker from Taylor Root, where he has worked in Sydney and London since 2000. Mike is a qualified lawyer and practised as a corporate lawyer at Berwin Leighton Paisner before making the transition to headhunting. Mike is experienced in recruiting partners and partner designates in the City and West End markets. Mike brings the total number of consultants at Deacon Search to 8, which we believe is the largest partner-focused search team in London.

  • Deacon Associates grows with hire of third consultant.

    Deacon Associates, launched in 2007 as a sister business to Deacon Search, is delighted to announce its expansion with the hire of Rob Fowler as a consultant. Rob was most recently a corporate lawyer at SJ Berwin, and has decided to make the move into legal headhunting at assistant level. Rob is focusing on both search and contingency for a wide range of lawyers in London.
